RUOK? is a free community service provided by our local public safety dispatchers for residents who may benefit from a regular check-in and an added connection to help when needed.
Participants choose a schedule that works for them – daily, weekly, or another prearranged schedule. At the designated time, a dispatcher places a check-in call to make sure everything is okay.
But RUOK? is more than a scheduled phone call. Each participant can create an individualized response plan so our dispatchers know what you would like us to do if we are unable to reach you. That might mean trying again, contacting a family member or trusted person, or requesting an officer to conduct a wellbeing check.
Participants may also choose to provide information that could be helpful during an emergency, such as emergency contacts, lockbox or key-access information, important medical or advance-directive information, and other details they would want public safety personnel to know.
Whether you live alone, have a medical or mobility concern, are temporarily recovering at home, have family who live far away, or simply appreciate the reassurance of a regular check-in, RUOK? offers a familiar call and a local connection – personalized to you.
