To request a police record, please complete and submit the form below. All police reports must be completed, reviewed, and approved before they can be released, which typically requires a minimum of seven (7) business days. Please note that not all incidents generate a report, and some reports may contain information that is exempt from disclosure under Massachusetts Public Records Law; In such cases, portions of the report may be redacted, or the request may be denied.
Most public records requests are provided free of charge. However, a reasonable fee may be assessed for requests that are lengthy or time-intensive. This may include time spent locating, reviewing, and redacting records, including video and audio recordings. Requests for body camera footage, in particular, require significantly more time for viewing, identifying sensitive information, and frame-by-frame redaction. Because of this, there is a much higher likelihood that a cost estimate will be issued for these requests. You will be notified of any applicable fees before your request is fulfilled.
If you are looking for a Motor Vehicle Accident Report, you may download it directly from LexisNexis. Your report will not be available until it has gone through the approval process mentioned above. IMPORTANT NOTE: Your Motor Vehicle Operator’s Crash Report must be submitted to us prior your police report being released. See here for more information about what to do if you’ve been in a motor vehicle accident.
